Defender Nottingham Forest signed recently impresses out on loan as he puts in dominant display in win

Nottingham Forest had a rather quiet transfer window in January adopting a far less chaotic approach to bringing new players to the club.

Evangelos Marinakis really wanted to sign a new forward. However, the Reds were thwarted in their attempts to make a statement signing during the window.

Yoane Wissa was linked with Forest. However, Brentford still have European ambitions of their own and made it clear early in the window that he wouldn’t be considered for a sale.

Elsewhere, Matheus Cunha signed a new contract with Wolves. The forward was linked with Forest during the month and he now has a release clause worth £62.5 million which will become active in the summer.

Forest in the end had to stick with what they had, although two young players were signed on deadline day with the club now valuing the future plans as an oversight.

Tyler Bindon stars as Reading claimed huge win over Rotherham United

The Reds landed Joel Ndala on loan from Manchester City on deadline day. He wasn’t the only youngster to check in on Trentside, however, with Reading defender Tyler Bindon also checking in.

A New Zealand international, Bindon has returned to Reading on loan for the remainder of the campaign before joining up with Forest for pre-season training ahead of the 2024/25.

Although he signed as an unknown quantity, Forest fans will now be curious to find out as much information on Bindon as they possibly can and he was in fine form at the weekend.

Reading beat Rotherham 2-1 and the display was built on solid foundations from the back – with the performance of Forest-owned Bindon catching the eye in particular.

The Tilehurst End rated the player a seven out of 10 and said of his performance: “Stood up well to Rotherham’s aerial pressure throughout the game, a tricky prospect given the strength of some of the Millers’ forward players, particularly Jordan Hugill. Made an important last-ditch challenge in the second half at 1-1.”

Any Forest fans who might be wondering what to expect from the central defender will be intrigued to see how he performed on Saturday against a Millers team that had been in decent form.

Bindon can play out from the back – which is likely why Forest pursued him – but perhaps more crucially as a central defender, the player is extremely strong defensively.

An international teammate of Chris Wood, it remains to be seen what sort of role Bindon plays at Forest next season. If European football is secured and it’s the Europa League or Conference League, he might be kept around to get some minutes.

The 20-year-old looks like a very decent player for the future. Clearly, his Reading form hasn’t stuttered on the back of his move to Forest and it’s great to see him producing the goods in League One.
