Nottingham Forest’s loan stars have had a mixed time on loans this season, but one starlet has become undroppable at his EFL side.
Tyler Bindon has been hailed by Reading fans for his recent displays after Forest signed the Kiwi in January, highlighting the importance of strong EFL loans for the young stars to develop into prospects for Nuno Espirito Santo to consider.
The Forest Academy can only do so much in developing players so senior football is crucial to the likes of Bindon’s chances at the City Ground but it doesn’t always go to plan, as highlighted by Joe Gardner being sent off on his Lincoln City debut.
Even senior players can benefit from a temporary switch as Lewis O’Brien is receiving praise from Swansea City fans, whilst further afield, the French media has been impressed with Andrew Omobamidele since his loan move to Strasbourg in January.
When a loan move is going well, it can lead to the loanee’s club seeking a permanent move for Forest’s gems, something clearly seen at one EFL club whose manager has sent a plea to Evangelos Marinakis about signing his on-loan Forest star.

Wigan Athletic boss Shaun Maloney is desperate to sign Dale Taylor
On loan at Wigan Athletic, Dale Taylor has truly grasped his third loan opportunity in League One to become a star at the Brick Community Stadium.
Shaun Maloney was blown away by Taylor when he first joined The Latics and has only grown in confidence and importance since, leading to Maloney moving to start a dialogue about the Northern Irish striker’s future at Forest.
Speaking after Taylor scored in Wigan’s 2-1 victory over Huddersfield, Maloney said: “Dale Taylor has been brilliant for us, an absolute standout. I’m a huge fan of his and I’d love to work extremely hard to keep him at this club for a long time.”
Taylor has contributed to half of Wigan’s 30 goals this season so it’s obvious to see why Maloney would want to keep the Forest gem at the League One side longer term.
Even the local Wigan media have been full of praise for Taylor, showing how much he has endeared himself with the EFL side in all aspects. It’s not just his goals, though, as Taylor’s statistics this season show that he is developing into a multi-faceted attacking talent.
Dale Taylor is becoming an all-round attacking threat at Wigan
It’s no secret that Evangelos Marinakis is looking to sign a striker this summer and whilst Taylor may not be ready to contribute to Espirito Santo’s first team squad, he is showing the potential attributes to certainly keep an eye on.
| Statistic | Dale Taylor for Wigan 24/25 |
| Goals | 8 |
| Assists | 7 |
| Chances created | 23 |
| Dribble success % | 51% |
| Aerial duel success % | 31.7% |
| Possession won in final third | 12 |
His goal contributions being as evenly spread highlight that the Northern Irish international has the ability to be equally selfish and selfless, supporting his sides attacking output across the board with 23 chances created in League One.
Taylor also has the ability to create opportunities for himself, winning the ball back in the final third 12 times whilst also completing one in two of his dribbles, showing a technical ability that isnt seen in all strikers.

It remains to be seen whether Forest would entertain an approach from Wigan for Taylor as based on his stats, he could well be destined for a higher level than League One.
