Nottingham Forest have had a somewhat controversial relationship with match officials since returning to the Premier League.
Last season, Forest were fined £750,000 for some comments aimed towards a referee after VAR failed to award the Reds three penalties in a defeat at Everton.
During the 2023/24 campaign, things often descended into farce from a Forest perspective, with Evangelos Marinakis venting his frustration at a number of points during the season.
This season, Forest have let the football do their talking a little bit more, and referee obsessions have ceased a little bit.
However, the PGMOL decided to test the water on how Forest really feel about match officials ahead of the Brentford game, with a big decision now made.

PGMOL make huge call ahead of Nottingham Forest vs Brentford
Howard Webb risked the wrath of Forest ahead of this contest by choosing Stuart Attwell to act as VAR on this huge game for Forest.
The official has not been involved in a Forest game since he was on VAR during that infamous afternoon against Everton at Goodison Park when the Reds were denied at least two penalties.
Attwell might have been intrigued to receive an important fixture involving Forest but it didn’t last long, with the PGMOL choosing to change the officials.
Craig Pawson will now take over VAR duties, with Attwell seemingly stood down just hours after the initial appointment was made by the powers that be.
The Sheffield-based match official took charge of Forest as recently as the 1-0 defeat to Everton and now Forest will be hoping for better fortunes with him taking part in one of the Reds’ games.
Match referee appointed for Forest vs Brentford
The person chosen to referee the game on-field might actually be a good omen for Forest, with Darren England the man tasked with holding the whistle.
The last game England oversaw Forest was a sound one for the Reds, with Manchester United beaten 3-2 at Old Trafford.
That particular game went without incident, with England showing two yellow cards for Forest players, with both of them deserved.
With five games of the season remaining, it’s important that Forest focus on football and not match officials, with this decision regarding Attwell likely to put a lot of Reds supporters more at ease ahead of Thursday.
