Big blow for Nuno Espírito Santo as defender turns down a move to Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are already lining up several moves ahead of the summer window, but one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s targets definitely won’t be joining.

Evangelos Marinakis has already made his desires to sign a new forward clear, with the likes of Matheus Cunha linked with Forest.

Defence, particularly centre-back, also seems to be an area of interest to Espirito Santo, following Forest’s links with Koni De Winter.

Juventus’ Federico Gatti is another defender who has caught the interest of the City Ground outfit, but it now seems almost certain that the Italian won’t be swapping Turin for Nottingham.

Federico Gatti rejects Nottingham Forest transfer

Gatti revealed his desire to stay at Juventus this summer, and it seems like the defender’s wish has come true.

The 26-year-old had been linked with a move to the Premier League, with the likes of Forest and Newcastle United reportedly interested in a £25m move, via Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian, however, looks set to remain in Turin, after putting pen to paper on a new Juventus deal.

That is according to Nicolo Schira, who claims Gatti has reportedly extended his deal until 2030, rejecting the likes of Forest and West Ham in the process.

Forest need centre-back reinforcements this summer

Much has been made about the success of Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic this season, with the pair playing a huge role in Forest’s surge up the Premier League table.

Take either one out of the Forest team, though, and Espirito Santo’s side would no doubt feel the effects.

Back-up centre-back Morato has been criticised by fans for his recent displays, and the Brazilian doesn’t seem ready to step up to the plate.

So with this in mind, and Willy Boly set to leave Forest, the City Ground outfit would be wise to add another centre-back to their ranks this summer.
