Nottingham Forest’s Champions League hopes were dealt a big blow by Leicester City, as the Foxes rescued a 2-2 draw late on.

The result has left Forest’s top-five dreams in doubt heading into the final two games, currently sitting seventh in the Premier League table.

In what was a frustrating afternoon all round for Forest, Evangelos Marinakis showcased his disappointment after the final whistle, confronting manager Nuno Espirito Santo on the pitch.

Despite already being relegated, Leicester will no doubt be over the moon they got one over their East Midlands rivals – something which has been highlighted by Foxes defender Conor Coady.

Despite having only scored 31 league goals this season, Leicester were the ones to score first at the City Ground.

Coady would be the man to get his side in front, heading from close range from a Matz Sels rebound.

Speaking post-match, the former Wolves defender spoke on his side’s draw versus Forest, claiming that Leicester managed to spoil the party.

“The feeling in the dressing room is a nice one because we’ve come here and spoilt it for them and that’s what we wanted to do.”

Ruud van Nistelrooy claims Leicester rose to the occasion vs Nottingham Forest

With a return to the Championship already sealed, it’s safe to say it’s been a pretty glum season for Leicester this season.

That, however, didn’t stop the Foxes in their quest to dent Forest’s Champions League hopes.

Speaking to BBC Sport post-match, Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy said his players recognised the importance of the derby and relished at the chance of spoiling the party at the City Ground.

“Yeah, we knew the importance of the game to our fans. We were aware of that, and you could see that in the performance. I think the players fought for every inch and wanted to make the fans happy, which they did.”
