Nottingham Forest’s Champions League hopes suffered a huge blow against Leicester City, and Opta have predicted where the City Ground outfit will finish come the end of the season.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men continued their run of patchy form against the Foxes, as they were held to a 2-2 draw.
Evangelos Marinakis even stormed the pitch after the final whistle to confront Espirito Santo, clearly gutted by his side’s inability to secure three points.
Now sat seventh, with two games to play, Forest’s hopes of Champions League football now hang in the balance.

Opta predicts Nottingham Forest’s Champions League chances
Forest’s European rivals were tipped to drop points over the weekend, and that turned out to be the case with Chelsea suffering defeat against Newcastle and Manchester City failing to beat already relegated Southampton.
Nuno’s men, however, were unable to take advantage of Chelsea and City’s slip-up, leaving their Champions League chances in doubt.
In the aftermath of the Leicester draw, Opta are now predicting that Forest will remain in seventh and finish outside of the top five come May 25th.
| Predicted finish | Predicted points |
| 3) Newcastle | 68.86 |
| 4) Manchester City | 68.86 |
| 5) Aston Villa | 66.59 |
| 6) Chelsea | 66.43 |
| 7) Nottingham Forest | 64.89 |
Opta had predicted Forest to finish fifth midway through April, showing the recent fall-off by Nuno’s side in recent weeks.
Gabriel Agbonlahor says Forest’s Champions League dream is still alive
Forest will recognise the implications of their slip-up against Leicester, but they can also still be positive heading into the final two games of the season.
Nuno’s men will fancy their chances against a struggling West Ham side up next, and the City Ground will no doubt be rocking for Chelsea’s visit on the final day.
This sense of positivity is also felt by Gabby Agbonlahor and Ally McCoist, who insist the hunt for Champions League football isn’t over yet.
“Ally, it’s not over yet, though. They can win two games and if other results go their way, they can finish in the top five,” Agbonlahor told TalkSport.
“Gabby, that is exactly my point. Now is the time for unity. Now is the time for them to be together,” McCoist replied.
