Morgan Gibbs-White is still an important player at Nottingham Forest, but it’s evident that his form has dipped in the second half of the season.
Forest fans’ relationship with the midfielder has slightly altered recently with Gibbs-White linked with a move to Man City.
His talents have never been in question, but Gibbs-White’s form has dipped in recent weeks, coinciding with the squad’s lack of form as a whole.
Pundits like Jamie Carragher have raved about Gibbs-White, but Reds fans aren’t quite sure he’s earned the same recognition as his award-nominated teammates.

Nottingham Forest fans honest about Morgan Gibbs-White after award shortlist
Alongside Chris Wood, Gibbs-White has been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Year, alongside the stars of the league such as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
However, some Forest fans aren’t convinced he should be on the list, and have taken to social media to give their honest reaction.
One fan said: “How’s Morgan Gibbs-White fluked his way into that?” With another adding: Gibbs-White has been good but doesn’t make the top 5 for me.”
Another said: “Not gonna lie, I wouldn’t even put Morgan Gibbs-White in our top 5 performers this season.” While another Forest fan added: “Love Gibbs-White but no way is he more deserving than Sels or Milenkovic.”
One fan added: “I might have expected Milenkovic over Gibbs-White,” with one more adding: “No disrespect to him but Gibbs-White is nowhere near worthy of a nomination.”
By the looks of it, Nikola Milenkovic would be the preferred choice for Forest fans, but he’s not the only one who deserves a shout.
Nikola Milenkovic and Matz Sels’ season deserved nominations
Milenkovic made Jamie Carragher’s Team of the Season, and considering it’s his first year in English football, he more than warrants the accolade.
| Statistic | Nikola Milenkovic this season |
| Duels won % | 70.2% |
| Aerial duels won % | 71.9% |
| Dribbled past | 6 |
In what has been an exceptional Forest defence, Milenkovic’s domineering presence has stood out, winning almost 72% of his headers alongside the more flashy Murillo.
His talents have helped lead the Forest squad to 13 clean sheets this season, which is where goalkeeper Matz Sels comes into the conversation.
The Belgian leads the golden glove race and therefore is close to being recognised as the league’s standout goalkeeper. Between the pair, and the whole Forest defence, surely there has been a standout worthy of the Player of the Year shortlist.
