Nottingham Forest want to sign ‘incredible’ £40m forward as well as Igor Jesus

Nottingham Forest will be desperately trying to get some new players into the club before the new season starts.

Forest are close to a deal for three Brazilians. Sought-after striker Igor Jesus is joining from Botafogo, with left-back Cuiabano and central defender Jair Cunha coming to the club to bolster the defensive ranks in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.

The Reds are also considering some departures. Danilo is locked in talks with Lyon, and he will likely leave the club this summer after failing to really pin down a place in the starting eleven since breaking his ankle in August.

Evangelos Marinkis wanted a striker in January. However, the club stood firm ahead of the summer transfer window, and now it appears as though more firepower is still being sought, even after Jesus checks in at the club.

Nottingham Forest will try again for Yoane Wissa

The Brentford striker remains in demand, with Wissa valued at £40 million in January. Forest weren’t willing to pay that four months ago, and it’s unlikely they will dig that deep this summer, with just a year to run on his existing deal.

According to The Athletic, Forest are still keen on Wissa and are preparing their next step. It seems as though the club are very fond of the striker who scored in a 2-0 win for Brentford against Forest at the City Ground in May.

Wissa was in fine form during the 2024/25 campaign. He scored 20 goals in all competitions, with none of them coming from the penalty spot, whilst he also weighed in with five assists, operating anywhere across the front three for the Bees.

Bryan Mbeumo sale might complicate Forest pursuit of Wissa

It’s been claimed that Brentford ace Mbeumo has now made the decision that he wants to join Manchester United. Talks will begin between the clubs, and his departure would be a body blow to the Bees.

Should Mbeumo end up playing at Old Trafford next season, there’s an argument that Brentford might stand firm on Wissa. Losing two sources of goals in one window would be seriously detrimental, and perhaps a new deal will be in the offing for the Forest-linked forward.

Forest do need another striker, though. Chris Wood is 33-years-old, Taiwo Awoniyi could leave, Jesus will require a settling-in period, and as a result, a proven Premier League option would be most welcomed to the squad.
