Nuno Espírito Santo has signed a new three-year contract at Nottingham Forest, leading to fans referencing a comment made by Gary Neville that hasn’t aged well.
Sources close to Nottingham Forest News had claimed that Espírito Santo could sign a new Forest deal alongside the imminent agreements with Neco Williams and Ola Aina.
Evangelos Marinakis has acted swiftly to ensure that the deal became a reality, tying down the Forest manager on a contract which runs until 2028.
With the contract sorted, focus can now switch to the transfer market as Espírito Santo wants to improve four positions in his squad. Before that, though, Forest fans were keen to celebrate the news by recalling what Neville had said about Nuno’s future at the club last season.

Nottingham Forest fans remind Gary Neville of his Nuno Espírito Santo comments
Speculation about whether Espírito Santo could leave Forest stemmed from Marinakis storming the City Ground pitch after the draw against Leicester City and having what appeared to be a public disagreement with his manager.
The club cleared this up as a show of frustration surrounding the serious injury to Taiwo Awoniyi, but not before Neville urged Espírito Santo to resign following the scenes. Neville’s comments clearly haven’t aged well, something Forest fans were keen to remind him of in response to Nuno’s new deal.
One fan said: “Are you watching, Gary Neville?” Another supporter added: “Gary Neville won’t be happy.”
Another said: “Neville will be spitting out his coco pops hearing Nuno’s signed a new contract,” while one more added: “Very well deserved and will shut some media up.”
One fan said: “Have that Gary Neville,” with another adding: “Someone check in on Gary Neville, make sure he’s okay.”
Alongside the Neville comments, it’s positivity all around about Espírito Santo’s new contract, reflected in what the Portuguese manager said himself after extending his stay.
What Nuno Espírito Santo has said about his new Forest contract
With the Premier League 25/26 fixtures announced, Espírito Santo will undoubtedly be looking ahead and planning how his side will look on the opening day against Brentford.
He has taken time to enjoy the special moment of extending his stay, though, posting his reaction to the news through Forest’s social media channels.
He said: “Since we arrived at Forest, we have worked extremely hard to create a special bond between the players, the fans and everyone at the Club, which helped us achieve great things last season.
‘I would like to thank our owner, Mr. Marinakis, for his constant support and backing. It is important to me to share a strong relationship with our ownership and we have thoroughly enjoyed working together ever since I arrived at Forest.”
The work will only intensify once the Forest squad arrive back for pre-season, but for now, everyone associated with the club can celebrate keeping Espírito Santo for the foreseeable future.
