Nottingham Forest have already completed the signing of Igor Jesus from Botafogo.

Igor Jesus will be announced as Nottingham Forest’s new signing imminently, having already passed his medical tests and signed his contract.

Jesus is widely regarded as one of the best young strikers in Brazil, having impressed as Botafogo’s number nine.

The 24-year-old has even earned a call-up to the national team, so evidently, Nottingham Forest fans should be excited.

However, there is actually another striker they’re interested in who’d be an upgrade.

Nottingham Forest can trump Igor Jesus with Georges Mikautadze

Nottingham Forest remain in the market for a striker despite getting Jesus over the line.

Brentford’s Yoane Wissa is on Espirito Santo’s radar and last month, Forest reportedly tabled a bid for the 19-goal frontman.

Lyon’s Georges Mikautadze is also attracting interest from Forest and they’re ‘making a move’ to land his signature.

Mikautadze registered a whopping 28 goal involvements for the French giants last season and is valued at around £21m.

If Forest do manage to land his signature over the likes of AS Roma and Tottenham Hotspur, it’d trump the Jesus signing.

Mikautadze could play in a front two with Jesus

Mikautadze is an extremely versatile player, as he isn’t solely a number nine.

The 24-year-old, who was the co-winner of the EURO 2024 Golden Boot award, can operate as a number 10 and off both flanks.

That means there is scope to play in a front two with Jesus, which would certainly be an exciting pairing that could work really well together.

According to FBref, Mikautadze ranks in the top one per cent for assists per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe, so he’d likely be the playmaker, creating chances for the Brazilian.

Chris Wood may have something to say about that, though, but clearly Espirito Santo wants to add more firepower up front, with a different profile of striker.
