Nottingham Forest have officially announced the signing of Igor Jesus, with the Brazilian striker now giving his first message to the City Ground faithful.

Forest have officially signed Jesus on a four-year contract from Brazilian side Botafogo, where he lifted the Serie A and Copa Libertadores titles.

It was revealed on Monday that Jesus had completed his medical ahead of the move after Botafogo were knocked out of the Club World Cup, with Forest not wasting any time to ensure the striker was in the building ahead of pre-season.

Forest are very excited about Jesus and what he can offer to Nuno Espírito Santo’s side and the feeling is clearly mutual, as the 24-year-old has expressed his elation about the move being made official.

Igor Jesus ‘didn’t think twice’ about joining Nottingham Forest

Jesus will provide the healthy competition that Chris Wood was in desperate need of last season, with his performances at the Club World Cup proving what an asset he could be to the Reds.

Speaking to Forest’s official media, the Brazilian striker couldn’t hide his excitement about arriving at the City Ground in a message that will have Reds fans buzzing.

He said: “I’m really happy to be a part of this new story, especially at a club like Nottingham Forest.

“I didn’t have to think twice about the offer; I embraced it. I embraced the project that they sent me. I am delighted to be coming here and hope to do some great work.

“I will do my very best to achieve great results and bring joy to all the Forest family.”

Chief Football Officer Ross Wilson also expressed his delight at the news, emphasising how much Forest believe in the potential impact Jesus could have on the squad.

After his former teammate John expressed his belief that Jesus would shine at Forest, Wilson must’ve been feeling rather smug to have pulled off the deal that was long in the making.

In fact, Jesus rejected Forest in January, making Wilson even more delighted that the signing was finally made official.

He said: “We have tracked Igor over a long period of time now and we are pleased he has now joined the Club. Igor joins a strong and united squad and we are sure that he will settle in well to our group.

“The club continues to grow and develop all the time and we know Igor shares such ambition as he moves to Nottingham and the exciting challenge for him in the Premier League.”

Fans won’t have to wait too long to see Jesus in action, with the Brazilian set to join up with the squad for pre-season ahead of the first friendly fixture against Chesterfield on the 12th of July.
