Nottingham Forest are going to be trying to do some business this summer, with new players set to sign and some of the current crop likely to leave.

Forest finished the season seventh during 2024/25 and although the club failed to reach the Champions League, the UEFA Conference League will be on the fixture list next season.

Igor Jesus has become the first player to sign for Forest this summer. He’s joined from Brazil, where he helped Botafogo win the Brazilian championship last season.

Jair Cunha is linked with Forest too and it would appear that Nuno Espirito Santo wants players to come in across the pitch to reinforce the squad.

New additions will mean current players moving on, with Jota Silva a man who Forest might be willing to let leave the club before the season gets underway.

Sporting CP no longer want Jota Silva

According to Turkish journalist Oguz Oruc, Sporting are no longer in the mix to bring Silva to their club this summer, with other targets identified instead.

It’s believed that the interest from Besiktas in Silva is genuine, and if he does leave Forest this summer, Turkey looks like his most likely destination.

Silva, who cost £5.9 million, was used a lot last season from the bench but only managed to start five games in the Premier League, with Espirito Santo preferring Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The 25-year-old is a useful option to have in the squad, and perhaps his departure will be dependent on whether or not Forest are able to strengthen the squad.

Silva could improve next season with Forest

If Silva does stay with Forest, it won’t be the end of the world by any means and with more football in England, the winger could well improve.

It’s fair to say that Silva’s best performances were fleeting last season and more consistency would definitely help the Portuguese player when it comes to winning over the fans.

One thing that Silva does have is European experience, having played for Vitoria in the Conference League qualifiers and that might be useful for Forest next season.

Sporting would have seen Silva link up with his former boss, Rui Borges, but for whatever reason, it looks like that move won’t be taking place this summer.
