Morgan Gibbs-White is with the Nottingham Forest squad in Portugal as his move to Tottenham is still delayed, something that Spurs fans are desperate to see change.
Nottingham Forest News revealed that Gibbs-White only wants to move to Tottenham, which ruled Manchester City out of a new bid for the Englishman. Unfortunately, though, talks between Evangelos Marinakis and Daniel Levy are at a standstill.
Forest halted communications with Spurs as the dispute over how the North London club came to know of Gibbs-White’s £60m release clause continues, leaving Marinakis unwilling to negotiate the exit.
However, Spurs remain convinced that a deal can be done, much to the relief of their fans after watching their side draw 2-2 League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers in pre-season.
Tottenham fans desperately want Morgan Gibbs-White
It’s been said that Gibbs-White is excited about the Tottenham project and working under Thomas Frank, but he has yet to take formal steps to demand a transfer amid the complicated issues between the two clubs.
This complication has left Frank without the attacking midfield signing he clearly craves, leading Spurs fans to take to social media to voice their desperation about securing Gibbs-White.
One Spurs fan said: “We HAVE to get MGW,” with another adding: “Can we get this MGW deal done please.”
Another added: “I love Sarr but we need another midfielder like MGW,” while one more said: “It’s obvious for Levy that we need players like MGW.”
One said: “We need him for the tour ASAP,” with another adding: “Bring me Gibbs-White.”
Nottingham Forest could prepare for life without Morgan Gibbs-White vs Fulham
Given that the Forest squad that has travelled to Portugal isn’t the biggest, it would be a surprise to see Gibbs-White not involved at all against Fulham.
However, to begin preparation for life without the attacking midfielder, Nuno Espírito Santo should continue to experiment with more of a 4-3-3 set-up in the game.
Against Chesterfield, the midfield three of Marko Stamenic, Lewis O’Brien and Ryan Yates spent the first half constantly switching between one sitting player and two more advanced midfielders, a system that could be the solution to losing Gibbs-White’s expertise as a number ten.
This system should be tested once more against Fulham to help both Espírito Santo and the recruitment team decide how best to replace the Englishman.
