Nottingham Forest are trying to sign James McAtee from Manchester City and here is the breakdown of how much their recent bid was.
Nottingham Forest have managed to keep Morgan Gibbs-White despite it looking like Tottenham Hotspur were about to land his signature.
That’s not halted transfer plans, though, as Forest are still interested in James McAtee from Manchester City.
Nuno Espirito Santo has identified McAtee as a top target after his impressive under-21 European Championship campaign with England.
The 22-year-old is valued at around £35m by Pep Guardiola and his chiefs, which is some way off the bid Nottingham Forest have just submitted.

How much Nottingham Forest actually bid for James McAtee
It was initially reported that Nottingham Forest submitted a bid worth £25m for McAtee, which was promptly rejected by Manchester City.
However, the Guardian are reporting differently, as they understand the Tricky Trees offered £20m plus £5m in add-ons.
So, perhaps a second proposal worth £25m up-front could tempt the Citizens, who aren’t in the best negotiating position.
As it stands, City are set to lose McAtee on a free transfer next summer, so these final few weeks of the window are the last chance for them to cash in for a sizable amount.
McAtee stats 2024/25
Despite limited minutes in a City shirt, McAtee still enjoyed a pretty productive season last year, netting seven goals across all competitions.
- 27 appearances
- 9 starts
- 7 goals
- 0 assists
His underlying data was also really impressive, as he ranked in the top five per cent for non-penalty expected goals plus expected assists per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe, as per FBref.
That evinces how threatening McAtee is in the final third, both creatively and as the finisher in attacking sequences.
Defensively, his numbers are encouraging, too, sitting in the top one per cent for blocks and 11 per cent for tackles.
