The positivity is still strong from Morgan Gibbs-White’s commitment to Nottingham Forest, but Reds fans now want to see one thing to take his game to the next level.

There’s been talk that Gibbs-White could be named Forest captain in a move that may upset Ryan Yates, but it speaks to the fact that the Englishman is the true figurehead of the squad.

This was confirmed when Gibbs-White signed a £150k per week contract at the City Ground, comfortably making him the highest-paid player in Forest history.

However, he’s not quite the finished product, and after Forest’s loss to Birmingham City in pre-season, Reds fans made it clear what they want to see from their star man.

Nottingham Forest fans want Morgan Gibbs-White to score more goals

It’s set to be a crucial season for Gibbs-White, needing to repay the faith shown in him by Evangelos Marinakis while also earning a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad next summer.

To do this, he’ll be wanting to provide game-changing moments to help the Forest squad, with the fans now demanding that he contributes more on the scoresheet.

One fan said: “He needs to work on being more clinical,” while another added: “He’s not selfish enough at times.”

Another fan said: “MGW stinker again,” while in relation to a particular chance, one Forest supporter added: “First half I was thinking that’s where [Douglas] Luiz would put it away.”

While he didn’t put the chances away on Saturday, there were signs that Gibbs-White could have plenty more opportunities created for him this season.

Igor Jesus could unlock Morgan Gibbs-White’s clinical touch

In the first half against Birmingham, Gibbs-White played in behind Igor Jesus, who was given an opportunity to lead the line without Chris Wood.

Jesus has already impressed Forest fans and he was at it again on Saturday, dropping deep and combining well with his teammates in a more active performance up-front compared to Wood.

It’s in this combination play that Gibbs-White could begin to profit in front of goal as Jesus looks to be an incredibly selfless forward, meaning that the Englishman could well find himself being the most advanced player on the pitch.

Therefore, there’s no reason why Gibbs-White can’t turn his seven Premier League goals into double-figures this season, given that his attacking teammates look set to create plenty of opportunities for him.
