Edu desperately needs dream Nottingham Forest signing this week, it’ll be third time lucky

Nottingham Forest were beaten 1-0 by Birmingham City as some transfer needs were laid bare in the West Midlands.

Dan Ndoye signed for Forest in the week, and he made his first appearance in the Garibaldi against the Blues, who will hope to challenge for promotion to the Premier League this season.

There was still no Nicolas Dominguez, however, who is completing his rehabilitation from a knee injury sustained on the final day of last season.

A big issue came to light during the friendly reversal and now Edu has to get busy in the transfer market to bring one player to the City Ground this week.

Edu must land Douglas Luiz this week

It’s believed that Forest are in pole position to land Luiz from Juventus ahead of Everton and West Ham this summer.

Furthermore, it’s claimed that Luiz wants the move to Forest and now it’s time for the club to take immediate action.

Ibrahim Sangare played 90 minutes against Birmingham, and he does look like proving himself as the player Forest felt they’d signed two years ago.

However, the dynamism of Luiz could be integral, and it’s important that Forest go and get the player ahead of the season starting.

Luiz has the experience of playing in the Premier League, and his ability to boss games from the middle of the park is something that Forest perhaps don’t have in their engine room right now.

Luiz will be dream Edu signing

Edu has tried to land Luiz on two previous occasions when he was at Arsenal but missed out on the 27-year-old midfielder on both previous occasions.

The Sporting Director can’t miss out for a third time and doing so could be seriously detrimental to the plans Forest are making for the new season.

Nuno Espirito Santo would like to become more possession-based this season and there is no doubt that a player like Luiz can help the team do that.

Luiz has had a rough time with Juventus, but playing in Europe with Forest is clearly something that makes the move to the City Ground more attractive.

Forest can complete a game-changing signing with a deal for Luiz and Edu will have seen after yesterday’s defeat that the Reds need to get him added to the ranks urgently.
