Edu can win the transfer window for Nottingham Forest by signing £35m star ‘better than Declan Rice’

Edu is getting his feet under the table at the City Ground after arriving at Nottingham Forest earlier this summer.

Dan Ndoye is set to become a Forest player this week, with the Swiss performer likely to be available to play against Birmingham on Saturday.

Edu isn’t solely responsible for transfers at Forest, with Newcastle-linked Ross Wilson also at the club.

Forest have bid for James McAtee this week, and it appears as though things are starting to ramp up from a recruitment point of view.

More links are starting to emerge from a Forest perspective, and one player in particular might just prove to be game-changing if the Reds can get it over the line.

Forest can steal the transfer window with Douglas Luiz signing

Edu has tried to sign Luiz before, when he tried to take him to Arsenal on no fewer than three occasions.

Now, there are some loose links that suggest Forest might be back at the table for Luiz, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, with things starting to get busy after Morgan Gibbs-White penned a new contract.

Everton and West Ham are also keen on the player, desperate to leave Juventus this summer, although Forest being in Europe might give them the slight edge.

Luiz is wanted by Forest on loan with an obligation to buy, with Juventus pushing to recoup around £35 million for the midfielder during this summer’s window.

The Reds would dearly love a new number six in the middle of the park and the proven nature of Luiz would be a godsend.

He helped Aston Villa qualify for the Champions League during the 2023/24 campaign and if he checks in at Forest, it would certainly flex the ambition of Nuno Espirito Santo.

Jermaine Pennant has previously said that Luiz is better than Declan Rice and landing him could really change the landscape at Forest.

Luiz could dazzle the City Ground faithful

At 27-years-old, Luiz is a tried and tested option when it comes to the Premier League and he’d have no problems slotting in at Forest.

Luiz wants £100,000-a-week and something would need to give in that sense should he make a return to the Premier League.

The talented performer could offer something in the Forest midfield that isn’t already there and his experience and guile could really change the way in which Espirito Santo’s team play.

Luiz made 204 appearances for Villa, and they didn’t really want to see him go, but needed to sell him in order to meet their latest PSR cycle in the summer of 2024.

Landing Luiz ahead of the first European campaign in 30 years really could increase the excitement levels at the City Ground.

The all-action nature of Luiz in the middle of the park could see him dominate midfields in the Premier League and hopefully, Edu can finally get his man.
