Nottingham Forest are working hard behind the scenes to make sure everything is above board going into the new Premier League season.

The focus is on signing new players, with Nuno Espirito Santo wanting four new players at the very least before things get underway this season.

Dan Ndoye signed for the club last week, and he made his debut in Saturday’s 1-0 reverse at the hands of Birmingham City in a memorial game for Forest legend Trevor Francis.

It would appear that Forest now have some work to do behind the scenes too, with the Forest academy being rocked by news of a very sizeable departure from the coaching ranks.

Lewis Grabban makes big announcement on social media

Grabban took a job with the club’s academy 12 months ago after calling time on his own playing career, spending last year working with the under-18s and B-Team.

The former Forest striker spent time with the youth ranks and was part of the coaching setup that led the team to the Premier League International Cup title at the back end of the season.

Now, Grabban has announced on social media that the time has been considered right for him to walk away from the club and seek a new challenge.

He posted on Instagram: “After a great year being back at Nottingham Forest, I have decided to step away from my role with the under-21s/B-Team. No doubt I will return soon when called upon.”

Lewis Grabban was tipped to replace Ross Wilson

It does sound like Grabban is open to returning to Forest in the future, with the former player clearly still holding a flame for the club.

It wasn’t too long ago that Grabban was linked with replacing Ross Wilson should he head to Newcastle to take on a Sporting Director position at St James’ Park.

It’s always a nice touch when former players end up working behind the scenes in coaching capacities, given that they understand the principles of the football club.

Grabban will depart with the club’s best wishes and hopefully, he can get himself hooked up with another club in another role very soon.
