Nottingham Forest look set to push ahead with a bid for Leif Davis to cover Neco Williams at left-back, but their pursuit of a right-back has been made more complicated.
Forest will make a bid for Davis who has plenty of suitors in the Premier League, after suffering relegation with Ipswich Town last season.
Despite the disappointing season, Davis is determined to have another chance at Premier League football, so he could be the perfect back-up for Williams, who has cemented his place in Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad.
However, the quest to find a similar player on the right side is looking more complicated, with Italian giants AC Milan now entering the race for the Reds’ top target.

AC Milan rival Nottingham Forest for Jackson Tchatchoua
To support Ola Aina, Forest have shown interest in Jackson Tchatchoua from Serie A side Hellas Verona, in a deal that looked to be progressing nicely.
Tchatchoua possesses remarkable pace so he would provide a more direct, attacking option at right full-back, but according to Italian outlet L’Arena, AC Milan are now rivalling the Reds’ move.
The report said: “A bidding war has begun between Nottingham Forest and AC Milan to sign him [Tchatchoua].
“Verona hasn’t confirmed the deal, but handing the player over to Allegri’s Rossoneri could mean getting some early access to a potential signing, as well as a significant financial return.”
Without revealing a name in particular, the report suggests that Verona have their eye on a Milan player in negotiations for Tchatchoua, which could well put the Italian side in the driving seat for his signature.
If Milan are to beat Forest to Tchatchoua, the Reds may look to the San Siro to bring in a man who could provide emergency cover at right-back.
Nottingham Forest remain interested in Yunus Musah
Forest have been monitoring Yunus Musah from Milan as an option for Espírito Santo’s midfield, but missing out on Tchatchoua may make the USA international more of an interesting option to cover at full-back instead.
A central midfielder by trade, Musah has played at right-back for Milan in the past, with former boss Stefano Pioli waxing lyrical about his versatility in a press conference in 2023.
Pioli said: “Musah can play in all three positions. He has different characteristics from [Rade] Krunić and [Yacine] Adli, and he is able to penetrate when he plays further forward. He has qualities that we will need a lot; he is a complete player, and wherever I use him, he will be important for the team.”
He wouldn’t provide the natural talent of Tchatchoua at right-back, but the versatility may make Musah a tempting option to cover multiple areas of concern in the Forest squad.
