Nottingham Forest are closing in on the signing of James McAtee from Manchester City.

Evangelos Marinakis can now sanction a spending spree after Nottingham Forest have been confirmed in the Europa League.

McAtee is set to join Forest in a £20m deal despite interest from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, so it’s a real statement addition.

Nuno Espirito Santo is also looking at Omari Hutchinson, although, Ipswich Town are standing firm in their £40m valuation.

Now, it’s just come to light that Forest are trying to sign another Manchester City player after McAtee.

Nottingham Forest trying to sign Manchester City’s Rico Lewis

Forest are still in the market for a full-back, having missed out on Mallorca’s Pablo Maffeo earlier in the summer.

Now, according to Foot Mercato, it’s being reported that Nuno and his chiefs have lodged a bid for Man City’s Rico Lewis.

The offer is believed to be a total package of £25m, however, City have swiftly rejected it, so they’ll have to return with an improved bid.

Lewis, who has picked up five caps for England, can ply his trade at right-back, left-back and even as a central midfielder.

The 2004-born made 44 appearances last season, netting two goals whilst laying on five assists, so he’s an important figure in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Man City likely to demand substantial fee for Rico Lewis

Lewis is likely to command a fee in excess of £50m given he’s 20 and already capped at senior level by England.

So, it’s highly unlikely Forest will be able to land his signature this summer, but either way, it’s good to see ambition.

It’s not known whether Nuno views the City star as a full-back or as a midfielder, but if it’s the latter, Mads Bidstrup could be the back-up target.

Forest are looking at Bidstrup, who has actually been likened to former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, which is high praise indeed.

Juventus’ Douglas Luiz continues to be linked with a move to the City Ground, too.
