Nottingham Forest’s place in the Europa League this season was confirmed on Monday, and striker Chris Wood is looking forward to a potential dream fixture.

There is still some way to go before the Tricky Trees find out who they will face, with the official draw taking place on the 29th of August following the conclusion of the qualifiers.

Of course, there are sides like Nottingham Forest whose League Phase place is confirmed, and eyes will be firmly set on who the potential opposition will be.

But it seems now star forward Chris Wood is already looking ahead, and hoping for a particular side to be drawn away to.

Chris Wood wants AS Roma away day in Europa League

Forest striker Chris Wood has already set his eyes on a potential dream draw, and has admitted there is one away game he would like to happen.

Speaking to New Zealand Football, the 33-year-old said, ‘To be fair, Roma would probably be the best one. Going to Rome and playing Roma, that’d be nice. I think that’d be one that I’d be getting a lot of phone calls for tickets for.’

Like Nottingham Forest, Roma are already confirmed to be taking part in the League Phase of this season’s Europa League, so Chris Wood’s dream could become a reality.

The New Zealand forward also stated that it would be a great experience for Forest fans, and that it is one ‘everybody would jump on and make a weekend of it.’

With the Stadio Olimpico being one of the largest in Europe, it would certainly be a great away day for the Garibaldi.

AS Roma would be a new opponent for Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest have never faced AS Roma in European or friendly competition so a trip to the Italian capital would be a new experience for the travelling Reds.

When it comes to any potential action on the pitch, new signing Dan Ndoye would be able to provide some insight on the Yellow and Reds, having just arrived from the Serie A.

Additionally, Nikola Milenkovic, who also spent seven years in Italy, may also be able to share his experiences with Italian opposition.

Forest’s manager is also familiar with the three-time Serie A champions, with Nuno Espirito Santo being linked to the Roma job earlier in the year.
