Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace have finally found out their fate ahead of the new season.
After weeks of speculation following Crystal Palace’s appeal to CAS, the final decision has just been announced, and it’s good news for Nottingham Forest.
Palace have lost the appeal, meaning Forest’s place in the UEFA Europa League is confirmed, so there’s clarity at last.
Forest supporters have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to send an honest message to the Eagles as the fallout begins.

Nottingham Forest fans react to Crystal Palace losing CAS appeal
Forest fans, on the whole, have been somewhat understanding about Palace’s frustration, but ultimately, the rules are the rules.
@laithgaribaldi posted: “Here in peace – do you think Palace would have done the same if they’d done all their due diligence and another club hadn’t? And is there a serious suggestion that UEFA wouldn’t have come to the same decision if #nffc hadn’t got involved?”
“#cpfc feel for you but your anger needs to be at Parish, he’s incompetent, that’s what’s failed you not a letter from #nffc,” @yatesinho admitted.
“Are the rules stupid? Yes. Am I sympathetic to Palace after the last few weeks? No If this was the other way around, would fans be sympathetic to Forest? No Up the Europa League Reds,” @charliejshepp said.
@Sam_Rowan explained: “I do feel for Palace however that only goes a short distance. We fell victim to totally unjust rules and got told ‘rules are rules’ by those who benefited.”
Forest can now plan with a Europa League budget
Forest haven’t had any clarity on what European competition they’ll be playing in all summer, so that may have affected their transfer business.
Now, any forthcoming targets know they’ll be able to play in Europe’s second-tier competition, so Forest have immediately become a more attractive destination.
Plus, Forest are set to earn much more in the Europa League, with up to £30m up for grabs compared to the £15m on offer in the Conference League.
That could give their transfer budget a boost and allow for more statement additions like Dan Ndoye, who joined in a £37m deal from Bologna.
Exciting times ahead on the River Trent.
