Nottingham Forest are close to signing Stade Rennais striker Arnaud Kalimuendo for a fee in the region of £25m.

Arnaud Kalimuendo has already agreed personal terms with Forest, so at the pace it’s moving, he could be through the door before Brentford on Sunday.

Nuno Espirito Santo now has four strikers to pick from, with Chris Wood, Igor Jesus, Arnaud Kalimuendo and Taiwo Awoniyi all competing against each other.

Perhaps Nuno is planning to play with two up top, with the impending new arrival able to operate as a second striker.

Either way, it’s certainly an exciting time to be a Nottingham Forest fan and here’s how they’ve reacted to the deal.

Nottingham Forest fans react to Arnaud Kalimuendo news

It’s fair to say Forest fans are very excited about the potential new signing of Kalimuendo, as they’ve flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their opinion.

“Just looked at some highlights of Arnaud Kalimuendo, he looks quality, quick, knows where the net is, skilful. We need that type of striker who can run in behind and run with the ball at defenders, obviously Jesus can do it as well,” @KieranCallum29_ posted.

@AnalyticsForest added: “Remember when you were sad about losing Elanga?”

“Was Brentford’s Wissa replacement. Why sign Wissa when you can sign the younger player that will replace him. Brentford don’t get much wrong in the transfer market either 17 league goals in 31 starts last year. Scored goals at every youth age group for France. Buzzing,” @NFFC_EPL explained.

“We’re winning the lot,” @magicmark79 simply said.

Arnaud Kalimuendo has learned a lot from Kylian Mbappe

Kalimuendo came through the ranks at Paris Saint-Germain and had the luxury of playing alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr, to name only a couple.

Speaking back in 2021, the 23-year-old admitted he learned a lot from working with the top players at the French giants.

“I learned a lot last season from great players like Neymar, Mbappe, Icardi and (Edinson) Cavani. I improved my control when in front of goal, which was something I really wanted to learn from them.

“Their seriousness and their professionalism – when you rub shoulders with these kinds of players you pay attention to everything.

“It was like being in a dream. These are players you admire and then they are your team-mates. It was a great thing for me as a young player.”
