Dilane Bakwa to Nottingham Forest was a month-long saga after the Tricky Trees registered their interest in early August.

The Garibaldi finally secured the signing of Bakwa on deadline day, and Forest had to fend off quite a lot of competition to finalise the deal with Leeds, Fulham, and Sunderland also vying for the player.

The Frenchman has already said what he wants to do for Nuno Espirito Santo, and all eyes will be on the winger when the international break ends.

But now, Bakwa has once again spoken about the move, and has given the reason and moment he decided to sign for Nottingham Forest over anyone else.

Dilane Bakwa said he instantly wanted to join Nottingham Forest

Dilane Bakwa has spoken for the first time since deadline day, and the former Strasbourg man has highlighted why and when he knew he wanted to join Forest.

Speaking on the Nottingham Forest official club website, Bakwa said, ‘This is a legendary club and there is a huge history here. It’s a dream to join such a club, such a milestone for me.’

‘We have a European campaign to come which will be great and a great platform for us and to be able to discover new things.’

The £35 million signing also revealed that nobody but Nottingham Forest would have had a chance to sign him after discussions began.

Bakwa stated, ‘As soon as the discussions started with the Club, I had no hesitation, I already knew I wanted to come here.’

That will be music to fans’ ears that a player was fully committed to joining the club, and now Bakwa may have a chance to impress his manager before the international break ends.

Nuno Espirito Santo will get a close look at Dilane Bakwa over international break

With the international break underway, those who have not been called up have been left to train with their clubs.

This gives Nuno Espirito Santo a better look at his latest arrival and the winger has already been out training at Wilford Lane.

Bakwa has a real chance of impressing his new boss, and he could fight his way into earning a regular starting role sooner rather than later.

However, he does face stiff competition from Dan Ndoye and Omari Hutchinson. But Nuno’s latest decision suggests Hutchinson isn’t as favoured at the club despite being the record signing.

Bakwa’s versatility to play on both sides of the pitch will only boost his minutes, and the winger will no doubt have the City Ground on its feet.
