Nottingham Forest are on the verge of appointing Ange Postecoglou after sacking Nuno Espirito Santo.

Ange Postecoglou is set to sign his Nottingham Forest contract today, just a few months after leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

Interestingly, Evangelos Marinakis and his chiefs are only offering him an 18-month deal, which will take him to March 2027.

With that said, Nottingham Forest supporters have swarmed to social media to react to the decision to appoint Postecoglou.

Nottingham Forest fans react to imminent Ange Postecoglou appointment

It’s fair to say, Nottingham Forest fans aren’t particularly inspired by the potential appointment of Postecoglou.

Here’s what they had to say on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Moronic appointment on so many levels. Clearly being done with only the Europa League in mind. Extremely worrying,” @RhysWilliams79 posted.

@jwkav10 said: “Absolute disaster waiting to happen. Not convinced Edu had any say in this either. I get Nuno had to go. But this is too big a style shift. He also plays a completely naive style of football. He’s going to do that with arguably lesser players than he had at Spurs.”

@mikewood77 explained: “Really disappointed with #NFFC such an underwhelming appointment if it is to be Ange Postanoclue. Why would you be interested in somebody who played turgid football last season and lost 22 times in the league? We’re so much better than that. Get Silva, Iriola or Glasner!”

“Nuno to Ange is not a journey I think I’m ready for me. It’s a no from me,” @Justin140732261 commented.

Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic have a big job on their hands

Postecoglou plays a very high line and it saw his Tottenham Hotspur side ship tons of goals last season, even with pacey defenders like Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic will have to adjust to playing almost on the halfway line, unless the former Spurs boss adapts.

He may have to, as Forest’s defence is a lot slower, particularly Milenkovic, so it’ll be fascinating to see how he lines up on Saturday at the Emirates.

The current set-up is so well-oiled in a low block, so it’d be strange to change something that has worked so well.
