Nottingham Forest are ready to appoint a successor to Nuno Espirito Santo.

After just short of two years in charge at the City Ground, Espirito Santo has slated Evangelos Marinakis one too many times and been shown the door by the owner.

The Reds are now on the lookout for a new head coach, with Mauricio Pochettino one of the names linked with Forest.

It would appear as though Forest are going to move on quickly, however, with Marinakis quickly doing his due diligence and appointing the next manager.

Ange Postecoglou ready to accept Nottingham Forest job

Postecoglou is now ready to accept the Forest job before the weekend’s trip to Arsenal.

Postecoglou led Tottenham to the Europa League title last season and will now take the reins at Forest ahead of the next Premier League game.

There is some intrigue over this deal, however, with John Percy claiming that Postecoglou will only get an 18-month contract out of Marinakis.

That takes him through to March 2027, and ultimately, that does make the contract being presented to him somewhat intriguing.

Postecoglou lost 22 of the 38 games he managed with Tottenham last season, but did show some willingness to adapt during the Europa League campaign.

Postecoglou appointment could end in tears for Forest

This is a very underwhelming appointment from a Forest perspective, and sadly, it appears obvious what will happen.

You simply cannot fail upwards like Postecoglou has, and after somehow losing 22 of 38 matches with Tottenham, he’s now landed on his feet with a club playing in Europe.

Forest fans have every right to be annoyed and although this is a change in style considerably, it feels like a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Only time will tell but Evangelos Marinakis will have some serious questions to answer if this one backfires and robs Forest of their Premier League status.
