Nottingham Forest pulled the trigger and sacked Nuno Espírito Santo late on Monday evening, with Nottingham Forest News able to reveal his likely successor.
Candidates have already been linked with replacing Nuno after the announcement came on Monday, following weeks of public discussion over his future.
It’s become clear that Evangelos Marinakis was unhappy with Nuno’s public criticisms of both the club’s transfer business and his relationship with the owner himself, leaving the Portuguese manager in a position that looked precarious at best.
With the Nuno era officially over, Nottingham Forest News can exclusively reveal the Reds hierarchy’s plans to replace the 51-year-old.

Ange Postecoglou is set to become the Nottingham Forest manager
The likes of Jose Mourinho and Marco Silva have been named as potential options to take the hot seat at the City Ground, with a more progressive style of football the key requirement of the new boss.
With that in mind, sources within the Nottingham Forest hierarchy have confirmed to Nottingham Forest News, via Graeme Bailey, that former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is to be Espírito Santo’s replacement.
We can confirm that Postecoglou has received plenty of interest since departing North London, recently rejecting the advances of Fenerbahce, as the Forest project is one that appeals to the man born in Greece.
Postecoglou’s relationship with Marinakis is also a key factor in the decision, with the pair having spoken at length about the role at Forest, strengthening their respect for each other.
It looks set to be Ange through the door, then, with the timeline for his appointment revealed ahead of Forest’s return to Premier League action against Arsenal.
When Ange Postecoglou could be confirmed by Nottingham Forest
Postecoglou’s interest in the Forest job has been clear ever since the public issues with Nuno and the Reds came to light, but he will have to work to earn the respect of the fanbase as Forest fans were unsure about the Postecoglou links at the time.
This work could be set to start very soon, though, with reports expecting the 60-year-old to be in through the door at the City Ground on Tuesday.
The Telegraph’s John Percy has reported that Postecoglou is set to be confirmed by the club on Tuesday, allowing him plenty of time to prepare for his first game in the job against Arsenal.
