Nottingham Forest return to Premier League action as they take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium this weekend.

Ange Postecoglou’s first game in charge will be against his former rivals, such is the way football can work sometimes.

Nottingham Forest are coming off the back of a disappointing 3-0 defeat to West Ham United, so they will be keen to make amends.

Ahead of Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off, the Premier League have just made an announcement that won’t go down well with Forest chiefs.

Nottingham Forest won’t be happy at Premier League announcement

Nottingham Forest travel to North London needing a reaction from the West Ham game, however, they’re up against an Arsenal side who have conceded just one goal all season.

The Premier League have announced that referee Darren England will be placed in charge of proceedings.

That might be a slight concern for Evangelos Marinakis and his chiefs, as England made a huge blunder in a Forest game last season.

The official failed to send off Keane Lewis-Potter in the 2-0 defeat to Brentford in May, which was one of the games that cost them Champions League qualification.

Nottingham Forest’s recent record vs Arsenal

Forest are winless in their last four games against Mikel Arteta’s side, with their last victory coming in May 2023.

The significance of that was it secured their Premier League status and crowned Manchester City as the title winners.

Taiwo Awoniyi scored in the 19th minute to give Steve Cooper’s side a monumental three points at the City Ground.

However, you’d have to go back to 1989 to find the last time Forest won on Arsenal’s own patch, so Postecoglou has the chance to create modern-day history.
