Ange Postecoglou was thrown into the deep end, replacing a beloved figure such as Nuno Espirito Santo at Nottingham Forest, but the Australian has admitted one thing has been ‘brilliant’ so far.
Not only do the players need to adapt to Postecoglou’s style, but the head coach also needs to adapt to life in his new role.
It was not the ideal start in doing so, losing to Arsenal 3-0, and then exiting the Carabao Cup in surprising fashion to Swansea City.
There have been a few positives for Ange, including Igor Jesus, as well as the performances of Dilane Bakwa.
However, Ange Postecoglou has now revealed something that has been brilliant for him since joining the club.

Ange Postecoglou says existing staff have made it easier at Nottingham Forest
When Evangelos Marinakis sacked Nuno Espirito Santo, any manager who took over would be facing high expectations to live up to.
The arrival of Ange Postecoglou sparked intrigue, and the Australian was adamant he came to the City Ground to win trophies.
That can be a strenuous road for any manager taking over without a preseason, but the new head coach believes he’s been given an excellent platform to do so.

Ange Postecoglou said, “It’s a very solid foundation, with some fantastic people working at the club in the football department, but also throughout the organisation. You can see why the club has grown steadily over the last few years, because there are quality people there.
“That’s been brilliant for me, because it probably would have been a lot more challenging coming in at this point if there had been some sort of disconnect between me and the existing staff.
“But they’ve been so supportive—good people and smart people—which I think has helped us speed up the process of getting the information we need to the players and changing the environment.”
The Australian is under pressure at Forest already according to Colin Fray, but with the support of the staff, it could be an easier transition than expected.
And when talking about what he inherited, it was not just the backroom staff that Ange Postecoglou believed will help him.

Despite being at the club for a short time, the head coach has a good idea of the players he has inherited.
The 60-year-old said, “You can already tell it’s a good dressing room. They’re very united as a group. Obviously, there are a lot of new players this year, but that’s also been a bit of a constant at Forest.
“There are always a lot of new players, and again, the new ones have adapted really well. I think that has allowed me to hopefully accelerate the way we grow.”
Nottingham Forest will be hoping to improve or maintain last season’s success, and their first match in Europe against Real Betis on Wednesday will hopefully be the first of many European nights for the Garibaldi.
