Ange Postecoglou should be pleased with his start at Nottingham Forest despite not winning a game, according to Wayne Rooney.

The Australian has taken charge of three matches so far, with a loss to Arsenal followed by a cup exit to Swansea City.

On Saturday afternoon, Ange Postecoglou picked up his first point of the season, but it was a match they were favourites to win.

It is still early in the season, so the Tricky Trees can turn things around. However, fans are noticing problems with Ange’s style already.

Wayne Rooney also watched Forest’s game against the Clarets, and he has spoken positively about the club.

Wayne Rooney says Ange Postecoglou should be happy with Nottingham Forest’s progress

Wayne Rooney appeared on BBC’s Match of the Day on Saturday night, and when it came to commenting on Nottingham Forest, the former Premier League striker was complimentary.

Rooney said, “I think we’ve seen Ange’s philosophy here, in how he wants to play, and the players have taken it quite quickly. I was impressed with Nottingham Forest today.

“The rotation between Gibbs-White, Douglas Luiz, and Anderson, with Zinchenko picking up random positions and Forest were committing players forward.”

The Manchester United legend also said that the Australian would have been pleased about the performance from his players.

Rooney continued to say, “I think Ange will be really happy with the progress he has seen, disappointed to lose to Swansea, but with the progress he has seen since the Arsenal game, he will be really pleased to see that.”

Rooney was not alone in his assessment of Ange’s style being in full force vs Burnley, as Paul Merson said he noticed the same.

Nottingham Forest’s performance must turn into results soon

While Ange Postecoglou may be happy that his squad has seemingly taken to this style, performances such as Burnley, which impressed Rooney, will need to start bringing in results.

Nottingham Forest will be hoping their European campaign this season is not a one-off and they can be consistent participants over the coming years.

The Australian’s appointment has no doubt divided the football world, with Henry Winter still unsure on Postecoglou.

Meanwhile, Jermaine Pennant believes Marinakis is already thinking he made a mistake.

If the Tricky Trees find themselves nowhere near the European places and struggle to go far in the Europa League, then Evangelos Marinakis’ decision will be scrutinised even further.
