Nottingham Forest were pegged back by Real Betis on night one of the Europa League.

Antony equalised five minutes from time to deny Forest a famous three points in game week one of the Europa League.

The game started poorly for Forest as Cedric Bakambu fired Real Betis into the lead with a well-taken goal from inside the penalty area.

However, in the space of minutes, Igor Jesus had turned the game on its head, tapping home a Morgan Gibbs-White pass to equalise and then nodding home from a corner to give Forest the lead.

It was the performance of Jesus that pleased the fans, and it would appear that the commentary team covering the match were impressed too.

Darren Fletcher says Igor Jesus reminds him of Premier League legend

It was a frantic 10 minutes or so for Jesus in the opening 45 minutes, with the striker scoring two goals and also being the subject of a VAR check for a poor challenge.

However, Forest-supporting TNT commentator Darren Fletcher was very impressed and said the striker reminded him of a Premier League legend.

He said live on air: “When I saw him last season and at the Club World Cup, he was so busy and he reminded me an awful lot of Carlos Tevez.”

Jesus was substituted not long into the second half, and when he was shown sitting on the bench after he’d been taken off, he appeared to be sporting a black eye.

It was a standout performance from the striker, who followed up his two goals against Swansea last Wednesday in the Carabao Cup with two more in the Europa League.

Jesus took his goals extremely well, and he must surely be pushing to start the Premier League game against Sunderland on Saturday evening.

It’s a sickener that Forest couldn’t get the third goal and claim a big three points on the opening night of the competition, but that’s no slight on Jesus.
