Nottingham Forest have seen a sizeable turnover of players since their promotion back to the Premier League in 2022.
Forest qualified for the Europa League last season, and that led to another heavy summer of spending in the transfer market.
Ange Postecoglou has replaced Nuno Espirito Santo as the new head coach and after overseeing five games in the hot seat, he’s yet to taste victory for the first time.
Over the years since promotion, Forest have made some wonderful signings, but others have failed to hit the mark, much like Jonjo Shelvey, who was signed by Steve Cooper back in January 2023.

Jonjo Shelvey signs for surprise new club
Shelvey fell out with Cooper during his time at Forest and did little to dispel the myth that he might be a bit of a bad egg in the dressing room.
Cooper proved to be the catalyst behind signing Shelvey and after just seven appearances, he left Forest with the club extremely eager to offload him.
Shelvey trained with Hull in pre-season before the 2025/26 campaign but failed to win a contract with the Tigers ahead of the new season.
Now, Shelvey has got a new club, but it won’t be one that too many have heard of.
He’s signed for a Saudi Arabian third division outfit called Arabian Falcons, with the 33-year-old being officially unveiled yesterday by the club.
Forest have moved on from Shelvey
The Reds have done some good work in the transfer market in recent times, and that has thankfully been a nice change of pace after a scattergun time of things when promotion was secured.
Shelvey never really looked capable of getting back to his best with Forest and after a catalogue of errors in the team, he was soon banished to the fringes by Cooper.
It’s not really a surprise that nobody in England has taken a punt on him, with the player coming with a fair bit of baggage and a lack of game time over the last season or two.
Shelvey is 33 now, and it’s difficult to imagine him playing in Europe again before his season draws to a close.
