It has been quite some time since the Nottingham Forest players have won a game, and new head coach Ange Postecoglou is still winless since joining.

The Tricky Trees’ last victory in all competitions came on the opening game of the Premier League season vs Brentford.

Defeat against Sunderland compounded onto Postecoglou’s terrible start results-wise and has left the Australian on a concerning Premier League run dating back to his Tottenham days.

It is not all negativity surrounding the 60-year-old, with Micah Richards saying Nottingham Forest have nothing to worry about right now.

However, results will need to start coming in, and Neco Williams has revealed what their head coach has told the squad they must do.

Neco Williams says Nottingham Forest squad need to buy into Ange Postecoglou’s style

Neco Williams has been speaking about Ange Postecoglou over on Sky Sports’ YouTube channel, and the Welshman revealed something the head coach told the squad.

The defender was asked about the new style of play they have to get used to and the changes that have been made.

Williams said, “I think a key thing the manager said is, once everyone is on board with the style of play and the tactics, the quicker the results will come.

“So I think that is just on us now to get used to his tactics and the new style of play, which is obviously different from our previous manager and the quicker that comes together, the quicker we will get results.”

Postecoglou has only been in charge for just five games, but in most of those matches, the shift in philosophy has been evident.

Mark Bosnich found their first-half performance vs Real Betis very encouraging; meanwhile, against Burnley, Paul Merson already noticed the changes made by the Australian.

Neco Williams is thriving under Ange Postecoglou

Despite the poor form of Nottingham Forest, Neco Williams is one player who is starting to thrive under the tutelage of Ange Postecoglou.

The Welsh defender scored an excellent goal against Burnley and has been highly creative against both Real Betis and Sunderland.

In his last two games, he has created six chances for the Tricky Trees, showcasing he is getting into the attacking areas Postecoglou expects from his fullback.

One area he will need to improve on is the inverting part of his role. The Australian likes his fullbacks to occasionally tuck into midfield to create a central overload.

This is a new position for Williams, who is used to being a touchline fullback, and he can look to Oleksandr Zinchenko for guidance.
