Alarming Ange Postecoglou statistic means that he’s doomed to fail at Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest lost at home to Sunderland as the pressure intensified on new head coach Ange Postecoglou.

The Reds were beaten after failing to defend a free kick properly when Tony Harrington bizarrely booked Nicolas Dominguez for diving, despite replays showing that he was fouled.

The free-kick was headed home by Omar Alderete, and after the game, Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs admitted he didn’t see Forest scoring at all.

It already feels like Forest are in a relegation battle, and with Newcastle, Chelsea and Bournemouth to come next, it’s hard to picture where the next point comes from in the Premier League.

For Postecoglou, the writing is already on the wall…

Ange Postecoglou’s current record is abysmal

Naturally, the appointment of Postecoglou was extremely flawed, and Evangelos Marinakis might quickly realise he’s made a fatal mistake.

What should have been the club’s most exciting season in a very long time has become farcical, with no wins since the opening day of the season and very little to cheer about.

Postecoglou has now won just one of his last 16 Premier League games in charge, and quite how he’s been allowed anywhere near the position as head coach of this football club is just bizarre.

Okay, the Aussie won the Europa League last season, but what about the Premier League? Forest can ill-afford to get relegated back to the Championship, but appointing Postecoglou looks to have given them a one-way ticket there.

Forest are in a relegation battle

Having five points after six games simply isn’t good enough, given that Forest have only actually played Arsenal from the stereotypical big six.

This simply feels like it’s already doomed to fail, and Postecoglou making several changes yesterday already feels like he’s sacked the Premier League off and is focusing on Europe.

With Newcastle and then Chelsea to play next, the likelihood of a win coming any time soon in the Premier League looks to be a case of slim to none.

Postecoglou is a nice bloke, of that there is no denying, but with one win in 16 Premier League games, surely there will come a point when Marinakis has to abandon this experiment that looks doomed.
