Nottingham Forest were actively looking for new players during the summer transfer window, and new targets will also be identified for January.

Sean Dyche will want to put his own stamp on the squad, whilst some other players might be moved on, given a lack of game time or simply because the boss doesn’t fancy them.

Some of the new additions to the ranks have come into their own under Dyche, with Nicolo Savona and Dan Ndoye both kicking on under the new head coach.

With January on the horizon, it would appear as though Edu and George Syrianos are getting their ducks in a row, ready for another transfer assault.

Nottingham Forest to rival Newcastle for Davide Frattesi

The central midfielder has been linked with a move to the City Ground before, and now that dream for Forest might become a reality.

According to L’Interista, Frattesi is the subject of interest from Forest and Newcastle, with English football thought to be something that the Italian is keen to sample.

Frattesi is valued at around £30 million by Inter, and it would appear that they’re now willing to sanction the sale of their midfielder in the mid-season window.

The player has made just 12 appearances during the 2025/26 campaign and would likely welcome the chance to join any English team currently operating in European action.

Would Davide Frattesi be a good signing for Nottingham Forest?

Elliot Anderson has been linked with a move away from Forest, and contingency plans need to be made by the club.

Frattesi isn’t really a like-for-like replacement for Anderson, and there’s an argument that the two players could form a decent partnership together.

With Ryan Yates, Ibrahim Sangare, Nicolas Dominguez and Douglas Luiz all in place at Forest, it feels as though at least one other central midfielder will leave before Frattesi were to sign.

Newcastle might hold the aces given that they’re in a better position than Forest and are currently playing Champions League football.

However, Frattesi does have a very attractive profile, and if the Reds could get him over the line, it could be a good move for all parties going into the rest of the year.
