Nottingham Forest thrashed Tottenham at the City Ground to go five points clear of the Premier League relegation zone.
A defeat for West Ham and a draw for Leeds made it a very good afternoon for Sean Dyche and Nottingham Forest on Trentside.
This week, Forest fans have pined for Brennan Johnson to return to the City Ground, with Tottenham considering selling him during the summer transfer window.
Johnson was back on the bench for Tottenham yesterday and after getting himself on the pitch, it’s perhaps easy to understand why Thomas Frank isn’t favouring him.

The embarrassing Brennan Johnson statistic as Tottenham are thrashed
Admittedly, Spurs were already three goals behind when Johnson was introduced from the bench but there was a time when the forward was an impact substitute.
A hapless Tottenham team couldn’t even get Johnson on the ball, however, and he must be genuinely fuming with how his time at Tottenham is going at the moment.
😳WOW! The embarrassing Brennan Johnson statistic as Forest beat Tottenham
Are you still willing to take Brennan Johnson as a January signing if a deal can be struck? Let us know below…👇
It was back in May when Johnson etched his name into Tottenham folklore by scoring the only goal of the game to inspire Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham team to glory in the Europa League.
Now, he’s scratching around for game time and reportedly, Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign him either on loan or permanently in January.
Johnson’s confidence will be in pieces at Tottenham
Not only is Johnson struggling for game time but it would appear that Frank doesn’t really fancy him as a regular starter even when he is fit.
As a result, if Forest are considering going in for him, there is an element of due diligence to be done, considering the club are now blessed with lots of options.
Who was the Nottingham Forest Man of the Match vs Tottenham
Omari Hutchinson, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Dan Ndoye and Dilane Bakwa are all solid wide options, and if Johnson were to come back to Forest, he’s likely to be viewed as a striker.
Even then, he’s not really got the skills that Dyche looks for his strikers to offer and the more it’s thought about, the more Johnson doesn’t feel like a perfect signing for Forest in January.
