The January transfer window is around the corner, and Nottingham Forest boss Sean Dyche will be busy getting his ducks in a row.

With the Reds improving in the Premier League and the Europa League, some reinforcements might be on the horizon for the Reds.

Forest have been linked with Santiago Castro as a striker signing, but more emphasis might be once again placed on streamlining the squad.

Arnaud Kalimuendo has been linked with a move away from the club, and he might not be the only one who is sitting in the departure lounge on Trentside.

Willy Boly could leave Nottingham Forest

According to Africa Foot, Boly is set to leave Forest in January, with the club deciding not to renew his contract beyond the summer.

Boly was handed a surprise extension in the summer, with Nuno Espirito Santo trusting the defender as a big influence in the dressing room ahead of the European campaign.

At 34, Boly has made just a single appearance for Forest this season, and that came in a League Cup clash at Swansea, which the Reds lost 3-2.

In total, Boly has made 47 appearances for Forest and has been a very useful addition to the ranks following promotion to the Premier League in 2022.

It’s claimed now that Boly is set to leave the club in the January window as he looks to play regular football and ensure he’s in form for the World Cup in the summer.

Hull and Millwall have previously been linked with a move for Boly, and it will now be interesting to see where he ends up in the January transfer window.

Forest should let Boly loose

Looking back – and hindsight is a wonderful thing – but Boly probably shouldn’t have been handed a contract extension in the first place.

At 34, it felt like an intriguing situation that Forest gave him a new deal and then also went and signed the extremely talented Jair Cunha.

Should Forest allow Willy Boly to leave in January?

Boly deserves to be allowed to leave the football club in January, given that he’s not getting a kick at Forest right now, and based on the fact that the World Cup takes place in the summer.

Letting Boly leave would allow certain players to be added to both the Premier League and Europa League squads, with Dyche looking to set his own stamp on things next month.
