Nottingham Forest player unfancied by Sean Dyche in contact with Conference League outfit

Nottingham Forest will do some bits and pieces with their squad over the transfer window, with most emphasis likely to be placed on outgoing deals.

Arnaud Kalimuendo has been linked with a move away from the City Ground after struggling to oust Igor Jesus from the team, and Taiwo Awoniyi is now getting minutes before him from the bench.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for James McAtee in the transfer window too and it would appear that interest is rife in some of the Forest fringe players.

Sean Dyche might want some room to manoeuvre and get some of his own players in before the window ends, and it will be fascinating to see what happens.

Strasbourg want Forest midfielder James McAtee

McAtee signed for Forest from Manchester City in the summer but he’s barely played and has found regular action hard to come by, particularly in the Premier League.

Now, Fabrizio Romano claims that Strasbourg have contacted the player’s representatives to try and present their project to McAtee ahead of the transfer window.

Strasbourg are progressing nicely in the Conference League and are looking to reinforce their midfield ranks once the window reopens in January.

McAtee has cut a frustrated figure at Forest and at 23-years-old, he will want to be playing regularly to prove to himself that there is life after Manchester City.

Forest should only loan McAtee out

It would be a serious error for Forest to consider selling McAtee and it does feel as though a club like Strasbourg would push for a loan deal instead.

In the summer, Morgan Gibbs-White could leave Forest and that would likely see a gap emerge in the number 10 spot for McAtee to earn a proper chance in the team.

Letting him leave to join a club in European competition on loan does make a bit of sense, although it will leave Forest a little bit short in attack.

Hopefully, the Reds can make sure their own squad is well stocked before overseeing any departures, although with each passing game he doesn’t get on the pitch, it does feel as though McAtee might leave the club.
