Nottingham Forest were beaten again, this time against Aston Villa, with more questions than answers for Sean Dyche.

Frankly, Dyche has to be on borrowed time.

Forest are sleepwalking back to the Championship, and Evangelos Marinakis has some decisions to make before a huge game against West Ham in midweek.

The game hinged on a few moments of madness from the Forest rearguard, with Morgan Gibbs-White getting the Reds a foothold in the game, before more poor play allowed Aston Villa to stamp their authority.

Brian Laws stunned by Nottingham Forest player during Aston Villa defeat

Dyche isn’t being helped out by his players at the moment but ultimately, he’s proving extremely naive when it comes to tactics.

Forest once again set up not to lose the game rather than trying to win it and frankly, that just won’t do given Forest’s situation in the Premier League.

The third goal compounded Forest’s misery, and it should signal the end of John Victor’s time playing in goal for the football club, with a huge error coming from the Brazilian.

His decision to come rushing out when John McGinn had three defenders between him and the goal made a difficult situation a simple tap-in for the Scotland star, and Laws was left stunned.

He said on BBC Radio Nottingham: “What is John Victor doing. Seriously, what is he doing? I’m honestly in disbelief here after watching that.”

Matz Sels has to play against West Ham

Although Victor had to play when Sels was injured last month but the moment he recovered from that issue, he should have been reinstated to the starting line-up.

That much was evident against Villa and with last season’s back four being together again, with Ola Aina returning, having Sels there was vital.

Who starts in goal for Forest against West Ham?

Now, the time has come for Sels to come back into the team, with the Belgian goalkeeper stepping into the action when Victor went off injured following his calamitous error.

Dyche will almost certainly still be in charge for the game against West Ham and with Forest going backwards quickly, he desperately needs a performance from his team.
