Nottingham Forest were left nursing a fourth successive Premier League defeat on Saturday as Aston Villa ran out 3-1 winners at Villa Park.
The Reds needed to find some level of performance after a drab defeat against Everton in midweek but frankly, Sean Dyche once again sent out a team not to lose, rather than one hell bent on winning a game of football.
Dyche was without the injured Callum Hudson-Odoi and with West Ham to play next on Tuesday night, Forest need him back as a matter of urgency after another drab showing in the Premier League.
In a game of such mediocrity, it’s hard to pick out any positives, although the performance of one player in particular did at least offer a little bit of optimism for the Reds.

Nicolas Dominguez stars for Nottingham Forest against Aston Villa
Make no bones about the Forest showing; it was nothing short of abysmal, but that would be harsh on Dominguez, who tried his absolute best to get Forest going.
The Argentine performer was in fine form and was the only player seemingly interested in pressing Villa and trying to at least force their players into making mistakes.
Dominguez has been back in the team of late with Ibrahim Sangare at the African Cup of Nations, and Ryan Yates has been sidelined through injury.
It’s hard to give Dominguez a hard time after yesterday’s showing and with Sangare not going to be available on Tuesday, he will likely get another opportunity in midweek.
Sum up Nicolas Dominguez’s performance against Aston Villa using ONE word
Let us know your verdict on Dominguez in the comments…
Dominguez is Forest’s best utility performer
Dominguez is vastly experienced and helped Bologna into Europe when he was captaining the Serie A outfit before his move to the City Ground.
The player wore the armband for Forest against FC Utrecht and quite clearly Sean Dyche does value him as a very experienced player within his group of players.
Who was the WORST Nottingham Forest player against Aston Villa
Let us know your thoughts…
Dominguez was a shining light at Villa Park during a turgid display but against a struggling West Ham side, he might have more joy and help Forest claim a huge victory.
Forest need all the positives they can get at the moment and having a fully fit Dominguez ready to fill in wherever he’s needed on the pitch will certainly help the team when it comes to picking up more points.
