Key Nottingham Forest figure now under scrutiny, Evangelos Marinakis has big concerns

Nottingham Forest are enduring a turbulent season, with Sean Dyche the third manager of the campaign.

On Tuesday, Forest take on former head coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s West Ham team, looking to move seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Dyche has come under scrutiny among the fan base, with four successive defeats seriously placing a question mark over the club’s future as a Premier League club.

Saturday’s defeat to Aston Villa saw Dyche bemoan Elliot Anderson, with Forest just seconds away from going in at half-time goalless before Ollie Watkins capitalised on a big error.

Now, with everything feeling quite messy at the City Ground, it looks as though Evangelos Marinakis might be preparing to make a change behind the scenes.

Edu future now in doubt at Nottingham Forest

This news will come as a pleasant surprise to Forest fans, with many supporters bemoaning the slack recruitment from the summer transfer window on the former Arsenal man.

According to The Telegraph, Marinakis is now having second thoughts over whether or not he’s the right fit for Forest in a long-term sense.

It’s claimed that certain heads might roll due to the bad first half of the campaign, with Edu right at the top of Marinakis’ list of potential fall guys.

Edu really pushed hard for Douglas Luiz and Omari Hutchinson in the summer and under Dyche, the latter in particular has at least started to showcase some real star quality.

Another big signing that Edu was responsible for was Oleksandr Zinchenko. He’s struggled with injuries, and ultimately, he’s not looked anything remotely close to good enough during his time on loan from Arsenal.

Edu’s official title is the Global Head of Football, and it now seems as though Marinakis could be willing to pull the plug on his position on Trentside.

Forest have to get rid of Edu

It does feel as though the fact that Edu is having a negative influence behind the scenes is hampering the team’s performances on the pitch.

Edu is clearly not having the required impact on the team and the drop off from this time last year to this moment in time is quite ridiculous, with Forest now in a relegation battle.

With John Percy, one of the more reputable journalists covering Forest out there, it does feel as though there is no smoke without fire in this instance.

As a result, the writing could be on the wall for Edu and perhaps Marinakis has already started earmarking potential replacements for him should he decide to hand him his papers.
