Nottingham Forest want ‘improving’ star, he’s played just 306 minutes this season

Nottingham Forest are going in search of some new players during the January transfer window.

The Reds have been active so far, but only when it comes to offloading players, with Forest sanctioning a deal for Arnaud Kalimuendo to head to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Douglas Luiz has been linked with being recalled by Juventus this month, too and at this rate, the squad available to Sean Dyche will be far weaker than when January started.

Some links are starting to emerge in terms of incoming deals, however, with Forest eyeing Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves before the window slams shut this season.

Nottingham Forest want Fisayo Dele-Bashiru

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Forest are one of the clubs ready to bid £13 million to try and snare Dele-Bashiru from Lazio before the window closes.

The talented player will have played for Nigeria alongside Ola Aina previously but he’s struggled for game time with Lazio during the 2025/26 campaign.

Dele-Bashiru has scored five goals and claimed three assists from 37 games for Lazio in total but this season he’s played just 306 minutes across the first half of the campaign.

Dele-Bashiru typically operates as a central midfielder, although he has played more advanced as a 10 or even out on the flank during his time with Lazio.

Lazio coach Marco Baroni has praised Dele-Bashiru in the past, saying that he’s ‘improving every day’ and at 24-years-old this would be a signing with one eye firmly on the future.

Forest can do better than Dele-Bashiru

It might be a case of beggars not being able to be choosers when it comes to Dele-Bashiru signing for Forest but the Reds can do better.

The player helped Sheffield Wednesday win the League One play-offs before signing for Turkish team Hatayspor, where he scored nine goals and claimed six assists from 39 appearances.

With that in mind, his pedigree in England is mediocre at best, with his experience of playing Premier League football non-existent.

Forest need proven Premier League quality at the moment and ultimately, Dele-Bashiru wouldn’t be any better than the current midfielders available to Dyche for the remainder of the campaign.
