Nottingham Forest still want star who makes almost as many blocks as Nikola Milenkovic

Nottingham Forest are still going in search of some new players this month as the transfer window draws to a close.

The Reds have already signed Lorenzo Lucca this month, with more attacking players likely to be the order of the day before the window slams shut.

Forest want Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace, and that would be an intriguing signing given the angst from Crystal Palace towards the Reds over the final Europa League spot in the summer.

Forest also want reinforcements at the back, it seems, with news of another possible defensive signing now doing the rounds once again.

Nottingham Forest still want Lewis Dunk

According to Tom Collomosse from The Daily Mail, it’s believed that the Brighton defender Dunk is still on the Forest radar ahead of the deadline.

It’s claimed that Forest are a big fan of the defender who has spent his entire career with Brighton, with a move first touted at the end of 2025.

However, it’s believed that this deal is unlikely during this window, with Dunk only signing a one-year contract extension as recently as December.

Dunk looks similar to Nikola Milenkovic when it comes to his form this season, with the Serbian making one more block than the Brighton man, according to Who Scored.

Signing Dunk makes no sense for Forest

This is a non-starter as far as we’re concerned, given that Dunk is playing for a Brighton team playing pretty well and the fact that he’s a club legend on the south coast.

The Seagulls won’t want to lose their captain at the midway point of a campaign, and Dunk is extremely likely to remain at the football club at least until the end of the season.

Would you take Lewis Dunk at Nottingham Forest?

Forest have Milenkovic and Murillo as their star central defensive pairing, with Morato and the very talented Jair Cunha as the reserve options in the squad.

Right now, the Reds have more pressing concerns than strengthening at centre-back and the hope will be that Forest don’t choose to sign Dunk this month, with the transfer feeling extremely pointless.
