Contrasting Edu reports emerge amid rumours Evangelos Marinakis could sack him at Nottingham Forest

Edu has been under scrutiny since Evangelos Marinakis appointed him to the role of Global Head of Football at Nottingham Forest.

The Brazilian can’t be blamed for every poor signing Forest made in the summer, with a collective effort on that front behind the scenes, but the pressure is rising.

Omari Hutchinson cost Forest a fortune and is yet to hit top form, whilst his other big signing, Douglas Luiz, is on loan at Aston Villa after struggling for form and fitness at the City Ground.

Edu also fell out with Nuno Espirito Santo, which is a large reason why Forest are in this position, with Vitor Pereira now the club’s fourth manager of the campaign.

Now, contrasting reports have emerged over Edu, and it’s got Forest fans wondering what is to come further down the track with regards to his future.

Claims made that Edu could leave Nottingham Forest

John Percy of The Telegraph is so often the man with his finger on the pulse at the City Ground.

Yesterday, he claimed that doubts have been cast over Edu’s future with the Brazilian not attending the last two Forest matches at home to Fenerbahce or away at Brighton.

Prior to that, Edu has been in situ at all Forest matches, and his absence has thrown his future at the club into serious doubt.

However, Forest fans might have to temper any excitement with BBC writer Sami Mokbel claiming that no decision to part with him is imminent at this stage.

Edu’s position at the club is under scrutiny, it would seem, however, and it remains to be seen what decision Marinakis will be made in the coming weeks.

Edu needs to leave Forest

Had Forest kept Espirito Santo, the club might not have found themselves in this mess, and the season might be coasting along in a much smoother fashion.

Instead, Forest’s form has dropped off a cliff, and the signings made by Edu haven’t necessarily hit the mark.

Although Edu isn’t responsible for all of the signings made, it’s fair to say that he’s not proved overly popular with the club or the supporters.

It would appear from the outside looking in that Edu’s position is growing increasingly untenable, and hopefully, a departure can be imminent to get the club back on track ahead of the summer.
