Nottingham Forest could now appoint from within to fill the large Ross Wilson void

Nottingham Forest were left shellshocked earlier this season when Ross Wilson left the club for Newcastle United.

Wilson oversaw some excellent recruitment over the years at Forest but it always felt as though Edu was brought in to replace him.

On a scale of 1-10 how happy are you that Edu is set to leave Forest?

Now, Edu is set to leave, and Forest will be left with George Syrianos at the club, but with his expertise coming in recruitment, the Reds are looking for someone to take care of the other Sporting Director responsibilities.

Now, Forest might look to appoint within when it comes to getting things settled down a little bit behind the scenes.

Forest could promote Craig Mulholland

According to the Daily Mail, Forest have been so impressed with Mulholland that he could now be handed more responsibility.

Mulholland was added to the academy ranks by Wilson as someone who worked with him on the youth development side of things at Rangers.

He’s currently the Head of Football Development and Talent Management, but he may now play a more significant role behind the scenes in the coming months.

It would perhaps be ideal for Forest to appoint from within, and it would be good to have some stability behind the scenes after months of utter mayhem.

Mulholland has worked in football for a long time and giving him more responsibility, allowing Syrianos to focus on recruitment, certainly makes a lot of sense for Forest at this point.

Forest have to start getting things right again behind the scenes and this feels like it would be a very positive step in the right direction.
