Nottingham Forest have been linked with Fulham manager Marco Silva for several months.

Clearly, Evangelos Marinakis is a big fan of Marco Silva, having worked with him at Olympiacos between 2015 and 2016.

There have been some rumours that Vitor Pereira could be moved on, with Silva seemingly the number one target.

What is your prediction for Saturday’s final game of the season vs Bournemouth?🤔

We've not beaten Bournemouth since 2015!😮

However, after a fresh development, it’s now very clear that the Portuguese head coach won’t be making the switch to the City Ground.

Marco Silva agrees to join Benfica amid Nottingham Forest interest

It now seems very likely that Pereira will be staying put at Nottingham Forest.

That’s because the ideal candidate who may have replaced him is now off the table, with Silva joining European giants Benfica.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has written on X: “BREAKING. Marco Silva is set to become the new head coach of SL Benfica!

“The Portuguese club has reached an agreement with the Fulham FC manager, who had prioritised a return to his home country.

“Official announcement is expected in the coming days.”

🏆Igor Jesus is the Europa League Golden Boot winner, but does this earn him another chance at Nottingham Forest next season?🤔

Forest supporters likely won’t be disheartened, as Pereira has clearly done more than enough to retain his position going into next season.

Since replacing Sean Dyche, Pereira has transformed Nottingham Forest into a top-seven side based on the form table.
