Crystal Palace take aim at Nottingham Forest and Evangelos Marinakis after Conference League win

Crystal Palace are the UEFA Conference League champions after a 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano, and they’ve quickly let Nottingham Forest know.

The Eagles would have typically been in the Europa League after their FA Cup win last season, but former owner John Textor scuppered that for them.

🤝Who should be the FIRST player sold by Nottingham Forest this summer?

As part of a multi-ownership model, Textor inexplicably forgot to submit the relevant paperwork on time, and UEFA frowned upon that, even though the part-owner walked away on the back of the revelation.

Evangelos Marinakis was the main beneficiary of Palace’s amateurish antics with UEFA throwing the Eagles out of the Europa League and allowing Forest, as the next best positioned team in the league, to take their place.

Crystal Palace fire shots at Nottingham Forest

Forest owner Marinakis will be waking up this morning to the news that Palace won the UEFA Conference League, and if he looks at social media, he will see a personal dig from the Londoners.

When Marinakis was interviewed after managing to keep Morgan Gibbs-White from the clutches of Tottenham last season, he uttered the infamous words, ‘In the end, we always win.’

It will come as a surprise to nobody that on Palace’s post after winning their second trophy in two seasons, the media team posted that exact statement in a dig at Forest and Marinakis.

Nobody can deny that Palace have had two wonderful seasons, winning the FA Cup and the UEFA Conference League, but as is always the case with football, this could come back to bite the Eagles.

If you take a shot at Marinakis, you had better not miss, and should Forest take points off Palace next season, it feels almost certain that there will be a response from the Reds’ owner.
