Trusted Steve Cooper figure set for Arsenal job after leaving Nottingham Forest in 2024

For fans of a certain age, Steve Cooper is the best manager ever seen at Nottingham Forest.

Clearly, when it comes to the club’s history, the likes of Brian Clough and Frank Clark sit higher than him, but Cooper achieved the seemingly impossible at the City Ground.

How much should we do business for when it comes to Elliot Anderson?

Will we get the £115m that Brighton managed to squeeze out of Chelsea for Moises Caicedo?

Cooper led Forest from the bottom of the Championship to the Premier League in a matter of months, before keeping the club up despite the odds being stacked against the Reds.

Cooper is a big part of why Forest are now somewhat stabilised in the Premier League, and now, one of his trusted lieutenants is set for a plum job.

Arnaldo Abrantes set for Arsenal job

According to The Telegraph, Abrantes is now set for the top job in the medical department at Arsenal after they shockingly fired their club doctor.

The Gunners picked up a number of injuries last season as they won the Premier League and reached the Champions League final, with Mikel Arteta acting.

Forest added Abrantes to the ranks when Cooper was in charge at Forest, and he held two different positions at the City Ground.

When he arrived during the 2020/21 campaign, when Chris Hughton was still at the club, he was named as the Head of Medical.

Who is your ‘hear me out’ signing for Nottingham Forest to make this summer?! 👀🤔

We only want RED HOT takes! 🔥

However, he quickly stepped up to take over the role of Performance Manager once Cooper was appointed on Trentside.

In 2023, Abrantes moved to Aston Villa, where he once again became a Head of Medical, with the Portuguese figure very respected.

Abrantes going to Villa and then on to Arsenal shows that Forest are very good at choosing staff members, and long may this continue under Evangelos Marinakis and the board of directors.
