That said, Forest are reportedly going to make a move for Jean-Philippe Mateta after trying to secure his signature in January.

Mateta, who netted 16 goals for Crystal Palace last term, is valued at around £25m due to his contract situation.
As it stands, the 28-year-old is due to become a free agent next year, so it opens the door for Evangelos Marinakis to potentially agree a discounted fee with Palace.
However, there has now been a fresh development on Mateta’s situation.

Amid interest from Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace are now set to offer Mateta a new contract to keep him at the club beyond 2027.
That’s according to Sportsboom, who claim a ‘lucrative’ offer is set to land on the lap of the Frenchman, and they are optimistic he will sign it.
Mateta reportedly had a somewhat fractured relationship with Oliver Glasner, and that almost saw him depart Selhurst Park during the winter window.

But now that Glasner has left and Pierre Sage is in post, he is much more open to the prospect of staying in South London.
So, unless Forest can pitch a more exciting project to Mateta and offer substantial wages, it looks as though they are set to miss out on one of their top targets.
