Nottingham Forest are being linked with a move for Cruzeiro goalkeeper Otavio this summer.
Forest will be in the market for a new custodian before the season starts, with Stefan Ortega and Angus Gunn both released by the football club.
Would you consider cashing in on Matz Sels this summer?
How would you rate his time at Forest? 👍or👎
Matz Sels has also been linked with Club Brugge, and the requirement for a new stopper is getting pretty urgent at the City Ground.
However, Otavio just won’t do it for the fan base and it’s not actually anything to do with his quality as a goalkeeper.

Forest have been stung too many times with Brazilian goalkeepers
Carlos Miguel was Forest’s first foray with a Brazilian stopper and that ended without him making a single Premier League appearance for the club.
The concept of landing him from Corinthians made some sense, given that Forest had enjoyed great success in signing Murillo from the same club.
During FA Cup contests, he rarely showed the required quality to make a career for himself in England and he returned to Brazil after a single season.
Last summer, Forest raided the Brazilian market once again to bring John Victor to the club from Botafogo and his time has also proved fruitless.
He injured himself making a calamitous error against Aston Villa in January, and the issue was so severe that he required surgery, which ruled him out for the season.
Again, Victor has looked somewhat better than Miguel did at Forest, but at the same time it’s hard to imagine him making a career for himself in England.
As a result, Forest have to tread with serious caution over Otavio, to the point where the Reds must seriously wonder whether or not it’s worth pursuing a £14 million deal.
Forest need goalkeeper signing as a priority
Otavio has played just 14 senior games for Cruzeiro and as a result, it would be a huge step up for the player to come and make his mark on the Premier League.
The Reds need to stop messing around with goalkeeper options and go out to spend some proper money on a stopper who will replace Sels in a long-term sense.
🔢Fill in the gap: Elliot Anderson was __/10 vs Ghana
Anderson played for the second time at a major tournament for England!
The Belgian was far from at his best last season and if the Reds can land a genuinely quality first-choice goalkeeper, it would benefit the team.
It’s hard to completely dismiss the Brazilian market but there is no way in the world that Forest should be considering signing another Brazilian custodian this summer – let alone one as inexperienced as Otavio.
